HIL: Soorma Hockey Club beats Tamil Nadu Dragons for bronze medal – Highlights
Highlights from the 2024-25 HIL bronze medal match between Soorma Hockey Club and Tamil Nadu Dragons.

HIL Highlights: The Soorma Hockey Club walked away with the bronze medal in the 2024-25 Hockey India League as they took down Tamil Nadu Dragons 3-2 in the third-place match at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on Saturday.
Gurjant Singh, Harjeet Singh, and Prabhjot Singh found the net for the Soorma, whereas Blake Govers and Jip Janssen scored for the Dragons, who bow out of the competition with four successive losses.

The ball catches the foot of Amit Rohidas at the top of the circle. But the umpire doesn't spot it. The Soorma ask for a review almost immediately and are proven right.

12' - SOORMA SCOREEE!
A massive defensive blunder from the Tamil Nadu Dragons and the Soorma Hockey Club have taken the lead.
The ball is drilled into the circle and it goes between two Dragons defenders to find Gurjant Singh. The India forward is marked by a defender but he manages to collect it cleanly and shoot the ball into the net.

10' - Dragons miss PC
A quick ball played into the circle and the Tamil Nadu Dragons earn the first penalty corner of the match, thanks to a Tom Craig's tomahawk inside the circle.
However, the drag flick is not the best. Jip Janssen failed to get proper hold of the ball. The shot is completely off target and the Soorma Hockey Club defence is not even bothered about it.

8' - Dragons growing into the match
The Tamil Nadu Dragons are slowly growing in confidence after that nervy start. The win predictor on screen favours them as well - a massive 67% compared to Soorma's 33%.
There has been no real threat yet though from the Dragons and the Soorma defence has held up well.

3' - Good start from Soorma
The Soorma Hockey Club are off to a good start. The ball finds Pawan Rajbhar, who tries to take a shot but is denied with a brilliant interception by Amit Rohidas.
The Soorma get a long corner and the ball is drilled in but Kothajit clears it away. Just seconds later they get the ball inside once again and Kothajit once again clears with ease.
Early pressure from Soorma and the Tamil Nadu Dragons defence is being made to work hard.

Did you know?
The Soorma Hockey Club and the Tamil Nadu Dragon opened their 2024-25 Hockey India League campaign with a clash against each other back in December.
The Soorma had then prevailed 4-1 in the penalty shootout for a bonus point after the match ended 1-1 at the regulation time.
Nathan Ephraums had put the Dragons in lead then at the 49th minute before Gurjant Singh helped the Soorma equalise in seven minutes later.
