Highlights as Tamil Nadu Dragons beat Hyderabad Toofans in sudden death at the Hockey India League.

HIL Highlights: The Tamil Nadu Dragons climbed to the top of the 2024-25 Hockey India League points table with a 4-3 shootout win in sudden death against the Hyderabad Toofans on Thursday at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
The teams were locked at 2-2 at the full time as Blake Govers and Jip Janssen found the net for the Dragons. Tim Brand had scored the first goal of the match when he put the Toofans ahead but they required a late 59th minute goal from Maico Casella to force a shootout.
The experienced David Harte emerged hero for the Dragons in the sudden death as they handed Toofans their first shootout lose.

That's all we have from the clash between the Tamil Nadu Dragons and Hyderabad Toofans in the 2024-25 Hockey India League. The Dragons have managed to get their revenge, although not quite the outright win they would have hoped for. Both teams scored early. While the Toofans took the lead as early as the third minute via Tim Brand, the Dragons equalised just a minute later via Blake Govers.
The second quarter was goalless, but the Dragons managed to have their nose ahead in the third quarter with a drag flick by Jip Janssen. The Toofans equalised with just over a minute left via Casella to force a shoot-out.
However, David Harte did what he does best to earn a bonus point for the dragons in the sudden death with a 4-3 win.

Both teams miss
Moritz Ludwig misses for the Dragons as Bikramjit Singh saves. Toofans can win this if Casella scores.
However, David Harte stands up under pressure and he denies Casella.

3-3 after five shots apiece and we head into a sudden death.

Tim Brand misses as David Harte pushes up to him far too early. Brand manages to slot the ball in, but it is after the eight-second hooter has gone off.
Brand asks for a review. He feels Harte has fouled him.
However, the replays show that Brand has managed to sneak that ball into the goal with 0.1s remaining on the clock. THE GOAL STANDS!
Toofans lead 3-2 and the Dragons have to score next.

Arshdeep with the fourth attempt for the Toofans and he can't go past David Harte. Meanwhile, Bikramjit with a brilliant save to deny Mohammed Raheel.

Casella makes quick work for David Harte to score for the Toofans. Meanwhile, the experienced Blake Govers misses for the Dragons. The Australian put his shot wide. Bikramjeet is elated!

Zach Wallace is fouled by Harte and the Toofans are handed a penalty stroke. Wallace doesn't miss.
Uttam Singh returns the favour as he lifts the ball over Bikramjeet Singh to score for the Dragons.
