HIL: Soorma Hockey Club beats Rarh Bengal Tigers – Highlights
Highlights as Soorma Hockey Club takes down Rarh Bengal Tigers in the Hockey India League.

HIL Highlights: The Soorma Hockey Club returned back to winning ways as they took down Rarh Bengal Tigers 2-1 in the 2024-25 Hockey India League at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on Monday.
Prabhjot Singh opened the scoring for Soorma, pouncing on a loose ball inside the circle. Minutes later Maninder Singh pounced on a rebound off a drag flick to double Soorma's lead.
Though the Tigers pulled one back via Jugraj Singh in the third quarter, it was not enough to trouble the Soorma, who walk away with three points.

End to end stuff in the first quarter. Both teams had their chances, but no goals were scored. The Soorma Hockey Club have been very unlike themselves so far, constantly looking for attacking opportunities instead of their usual solid defensive approach.

Jugraj Singh with a powerful strike from the top of the circle and Vincent Vanasch dives to deflect it away. The Belgian goalkeeper is pumped up. That was a brilliant save.

9' - Soorma miss PCs again
Harmanpreet Singh's first drag flick hits the first rusher Hayden Beltz and deflects on to the face of his Tigers teammate Pradhan Chandura.
Chandura is down in pain and they immediately call upon the doctor. He did not have a mask to soften the blow either. He eventually gets up and walks off with a physio with his hand still on his face. That was rough. He might not play a part in this contest anymore.
Meanwhile, Soorma are handed yet another penalty corner and this time Beltz deflects it away cleanly.

8' - Soorma miss PC!
The Soorma Hockey Club earns a penalty corner now and they too fail to take advantage. The first dragflick from Harmanpreet hits the first rusher, before the second is saved brilliantly by the Tigers goalkeeper.
Pawan Rajbhar is quick to pounce on the rebound to take control of the ball, but his flick is wide of the near post.

6' - Tigers miss PC!
The Soorma Hockey Club are slowly growing in confidence, but the Rarh Bengal Tigers come on a counter and earn a penalty corner for a defender's foot inside the circle.
The drag flick, however, is brought under control with ease by the Soorma defence to avert the danger.

It is the Rarh Bengal Tigers, who make the first threatening move of the most inside the first minute. They fire a shot from a narrow angle on the right but it is not enough to trouble Soorma goalie Vanasch, who just parries it away with ease.
