HIL: Soorma Hockey Club beats Rarh Bengal Tigers – Highlights
Highlights as Soorma Hockey Club takes down Rarh Bengal Tigers in the Hockey India League.

HIL Highlights: The Soorma Hockey Club returned back to winning ways as they took down Rarh Bengal Tigers 2-1 in the 2024-25 Hockey India League at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on Monday.
Prabhjot Singh opened the scoring for Soorma, pouncing on a loose ball inside the circle. Minutes later Maninder Singh pounced on a rebound off a drag flick to double Soorma's lead.
Though the Tigers pulled one back via Jugraj Singh in the third quarter, it was not enough to trouble the Soorma, who walk away with three points.

A stick tackle on left as the Rarh Bengal Tigers try to penetrate the circle from the right by Prabhjot and the Soorma concede a penalty corner.
Jugraj Singh with the drag flick from the first quarter and he beats the goalkeeper to his left. The postman Nicolas della Torre gets a stick to it to reduce the pace of the ball, but it is not enough. It just about goes past the white line in the goal. And the umpire hands it to the Tigers.
The Tigers have pulled one back!

36' - SAVE, CARR!
The Soorma Hockey Club continue to call the shots. A good pass into the circle from the right and the ball finds Prabhjot inside the circle.
He fires a fiery shot from close range, but that is blocked by goalkeeper Jamie Carr. The Soorma continue the play on rebound but eventually the ball is deemed dangerous to cut short that move.

HALF-TIME!
What a quarter that was for the Soorma Hockey Club. They needed goals and they deliver in some style. They have struggled for field goals in the 2024-25 HIL and they have gotten two in a space of seven minutes in this match, thanks to Prabhjot and Maninder Singh.
The Rarh Bengal Tigers have been jolted and they will have a mountain to climb in the second half. Remember, the Tigers are yet to play a single penalty shootout in the tournament. Will today be the day? Or will Soorma hang on for an outright win?

28' - Good review from Soorma
A penalty corner handed to the Rarh Bengal Tigers and he Soorma Hockey Club ask for a review almost immediately. The replays show, it was the defender's stick inside the circle and not the foot. The decision is overturned.
A good use of the review by Soorma.

27' - SOORMA SCOREEE!
Nicolas Keenan lifts the ball on his stick at the baseline and runs in. He then pushes the ball into a defender's feet and that's some excellent work to earn a penalty corner for Soorma.
It is Nicolas della Torre with the drag flick this time from the first battery and his attempt is blocked by the Tigers goalkeeper. Gurjant tries to pounce on the rebound but fails.
However, the ball then falls to Maninder Singh, who slots it in. Soorma have doubled their lead.

20' - SOORMA SCOREEE!
A good aerial ball into the circle from Harmanpreet Singh and Maninder Singh recieves it well. Maninder's turn and an attempt at goal, is however, not the best.
The ball hits the ground and lobs up. An unmarked Prabhjot Singh just taps the aerial ball past the Rarh Bengal Tigers goalkeeper. Soorma Hockey Club have the LEAD!

A push inside the circle from a Soorma defender to concede a penalty corner to the Tigers. However, no harm's done as Jugraj Singh's drag flick is saved well by Vincent Vanasch.
