The Indian men’s hockey team produced a spirited comeback to defeat Belgium 4-3 in their final match of the FIH Pro League 2024–25 season, avoiding what would have been their worst-ever finish in the competition for now, as it'll depend on how other results go.
Belgium started strongly, with Arthur De Sloover opening the scoring in the 8th minute. India responded in the second quarter through Sukhjeet Singh, who equalised in the 21st minute.
The second half saw end-to-end action. Belgium regained the lead in the 34th minute via Thibeau Stockbroekx, but India fired back instantly — Sukhjeet scored again a minute later, and Amit Rohidas powered in a penalty corner in the 36th to make it 3-2.
Belgium weren’t done. They levelled in the 41st through youngster Hugo Labouchere, who netted his first international goal from a penalty corner.
The final twist came in the 59th minute, when India successfully reviewed an aggressive challenge inside the circle. The video referral confirmed a push, and a penalty stroke was awarded. Captain Harmanpreet Singh stepped up and coolly converted, sealing a dramatic 4-3 win.
