FIH Pro League 2024-25: India lose to Netherlands 2-3 - HIGHLIGHTS

FIH Men's Pro League: The Indian men's hockey team lost their second consecutive match to the Netherlands 2-3 in their European leg of the FIH Pro League at the Wagener Hockey Stadium, Amstelveen on Monday.
Abhishek (20 minutes) and Jugraj Singh (54 minutes) converted for India while Thijs van Dam (24 minutes), Tjep Hoedemakers (33 minutes), and Jip Janssen (57 minutes) scored for the Dutch.
India started on a positive note by maintaining possession and penetrating the opponent's defence. India had its fair share of opportunities and continued to put pressure on the Dutch defence. The Netherlands responded with a switch to counter-attacking play, creating a few scoring chances. Both teams continued to make efforts, but the opening quarter ended goalless.
India’s persistence paid off in the 20th minute when Abhishek, playing his milestone 100th international match, scored to take India 1-0 up.
The third quarter was equally action-packed as India got as many as six penalty corners against Netherlands 1. The match was tied at 2-all when Jip Janssen (57’) converted a penalty as the Dutch sealed a thrilling 3-2 win.
Netherlands have now extended their lead on the top with 20 points while India is placed fourth with 15 points.
Paris Olympics bronze medalist will now play Argentina on Wednesday.
The winner of the six-month-long tournament will earn a direct qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands.

A fruitful second quarter. Both teams scored a goal each. India was first to score courtesy Abhishek in the 19th minute but their lead lasted only FOUR minutes as Netherlands bounced back with Thijs van Dam scoring the equaliser.
An absolutely entertaining action-packed second quater from both sides.
