Live Updates

    Subdivision 2 Ends!

    That ends subdivision 2!

ROC leads team standings over China with GB in third followed by Italy and Japan.

This subdivision was simply UNBELIEVABLE! This is what we want to see at an Olympic Games. Fantastic gymnastics and a great competition

  • 25 July 2021 4:50 AM GMT

WOW. Reigning European Champion and Junior World Champion Viktoria Listunova is OUT of AA finals! Only top 2 gymnasts can advance from each country and today Urazova and Melnikova outscore Listunova!

Insane how competitive gymnastics gets! Unfortunate for Listunova but this is sport! She is young and will come back stronger! Will hopefully see her in event finals!

  • 25 July 2021 4:44 AM GMT

Gerasimova scores a 13.766, just 0.1 short of qualifying. Unfortunately we will not see her in beam finals!

  • 25 July 2021 4:42 AM GMT

Elena Gerasimova from ROC: beam is her event!

Love her style on beam. Hit routine but a few wobbles here and there. Will be interesting to see if she makes it past her teammates

  • 25 July 2021 4:40 AM GMT

Listunova the third Russian AA gymnast also hits! Scores a 13.866. Did her absolute best today but it looks really tight within the ROC team for the top two to qualify for AA finals!

  • 25 July 2021 4:37 AM GMT

Melnikova smashes beam! YES!! gets a 13.733 for her effort. What a day she has had. Always struggled with consistency issues, but not today. Looks incredibly confident and ready to go. Goes into 1st in the AA standings!

Alice Kinsella with a big vault but has a deep landing and a step back. Not the best day for her. She had two falls and looks very disappointed with herself.

Jenn Gadirova: HUGE amplitude on her vault. Her gymnastics is big time! 14.533

Her sister Jess scores a 14.5 on her effort!

  • 25 July 2021 4:32 AM GMT

Great floor routines form Tang Xijing and Zhang Jin, score 13.366 and 13.433 respectively

Urazova with a 14 on beam. Beam judging seems quite stringent today, with Chenchen's score and Urazova too

  • 25 July 2021 4:30 AM GMT

Also, I need my "I told you so" moment! ROC has the top 4 scores on Bars! The bars depth on this team. Unbelievable wow! Only two will qualify to finals ofcourse

  • 25 July 2021 4:27 AM GMT

    Last rotation:

Urazova starting ROC off on beam: Beautiful mount and flight sries. Slightly off on her front aerial but recovers well. Great dismount and connections through the middle. Very unique mixed combination there. WOW. Lovely work from her under pressure.

It is so great to see the ROC and Chinese so consistent and confident today

    China Queens of beam

Just for reference, I wasn't kidding when I said China on beam. The top 5 gymnasts leading the beam standings are all Chinese! Ofcourse only two will qualify.

The AA race continues with Angelina Melnikova leading after three rotations. The standings behind her are CLOSE. Tang Xijing and Listunova are tied at 43.066 and Vladislava them both by only 0.033
