India faced their first defeat in the SAFF U20 Women's Championship 2023.

India lost to Nepal in a surprise upset as the Nepalese team won the match 3-1. They stay in a precarious position as a point against Bhutan would be enough for Bangladesh to knock India out and join Nepal in the final.
