AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers Highlights: India started their 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers final round matches with a goalless draw against Bangladesh at their home turf in Shillong on Tuesday.
Both teams had their chances but neither were clinical enough in front of the goal. Even Sunil Chhetri had a chance go begging late in the match before he was pulled off.
Vishal Kaith had a rough introduction to the rigours of international football, though thankfully none of it proved costly.
Coach Manolo Marquez was raging during the post-match interview with the broadcasters. He has a lot of work to do.

31' - SAVE, MITHUL!
Some good co-ordination between Subhashish Bose and Liston Colaco on the left flank and India have a counter attack out of nowhere. Colaco crosses the ball in cleanly into the box and a flying Udanta Singh comes up with a header.
It's not the best of efforts and a Bangladesh defender somehow manages to keep it out. However, the rebound falls to an unmarked Farukh Choudhary, who has slipped inside the box.
Choudhary takes a shot but doesn't have the required power or placement to trouble Bangladesh goalkeeper Mithul.

26' - Good work from Bheke
India are pressing high now. Bangladesh come on a counter attack with a brilliant run on the left flank from Bangladesh No 10. He reaches the baseline before Rahul Bheke comes diving in to clear the danger.
That was good defending from Bheke.

23' - Nearly an own goal
A freekick for India and that's a wonderfully taken set piece from Liston Colaco. A Bangladesh defender leaps high to clear but instead of clearing, he heads it towards their own goal.
Fortunately for Bangladesh, the ball travels just wide of the goal post. That was nearly an own goal.

22' - Topu Barman stretchered off
Worrying signs for Bangladesh as their captain Topu Barman has to be stretchered off the field. He seemed to have cramped up at first but it seems to be something more than that.

18' - That was CLOSEEE!
Another corner for Bangladesh and it has not been cleared cleanly by the Indians. The ball comes back into the box and it splits two Indian defenders - Jhingan and Bose - to perfection.
Two Bangladesh forward's comes in to head the ball. Emon gets the touch, but can't direct it into the goal post.
That was a complete communication breakdown between India's defensive stalwarts Jhingan and Bose. Could very well have been costly.

17' - Bangladesh posing tough questions
Bangladesh have looked extremely good so far. Led by Choudhury in the midfield, they have been on constant attack. The moves have been clinical, though they have not converted. Posing some tough questions to the Indian defence currently are Bangladesh.

11' - Subashish Bose with a goal line clearance
Its a corner for Bangladesh and Hamza Choudhury launches it in. Vishal Kaith collects it safely and rushes to the top of the box to launch a counter.
He tries to kick the ball away but instead hits a Bangladesh player and the ball lands back into the box. They try to pounce and push the ball in but Subashish Bose comes heroically for India to make a goal line clearance of sorts.
That's the second blunder from Kaith just 11 minutes into the match. He is not having the best of debuts. Manolo, surely, won't be happy.

9' - A good cross from Bangladesh
A good cross from the right flank into the box from Bangladesh and India do not have enough bodies to defend. The ball finds Emon at the top of the box.
The Bangladesh forward does get a header in but its not directed well.

6' - Farukh Choudhary looking good
Farukh Choudhary, drafted in after the injury to Brandon, is looking lively in the midfield for India. A couple of good touches and passes already from the youngster.
