With the start of the new year, the Indian men's junior cycling team scaled a new peak as India attained a ranking of World No. 1 in all four sprinting events in the latest World UCI 2020 rankings updated recently.

The young Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam is ranked No. 1 in Junior Individual Sprint, Junior Keirin, and Junior 1 Km Time Trial while the Indian Team takes the numero uno position in Junior Team Sprint Event with 1620 points. The comes after Esow Alban had created history by becoming the first Indian to top the UCI world rankings but now, in a matter of a year, Ronaldo replaces Esow on top of UCI world ranking.

Ronaldo has 1530 ranking points as he climbed one spot, his closest competitor is Thomas Rhys of UK has only 895 ranking points. Y Rojit Singh is also ranked 3rd and 2nd in Junior Sprint and Junior Kerin respectively. The Indian junior men's team currently consists of Ronaldo, Paul Collingwood and Rojit Singh.

The Indian women's junior team is ranked 2nd in Junior Team Sprint. Trishiya Paul takes the No. 3 spot in Junior 1 Km Time Trial while Nikita is at No. 2 in the Junior Keirin event. The future looks bright for Indian cycling with the youngsters taking responsibility on themselves and cycling to glory!
