India had its most successful day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, as the Indian contingent added six medals to its tally on Monday.
Sunday belonged to India's weightlifters. Mirabai Chanu scripted history by clinching her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg event.
On Monday, the Indian weightlifters continued their performance, winning three more medals; Gyaneshwari Yadav (53 Kg) and Ajaya Babu Valluri (79 Kg) won silver medals.
On the other hand, Bindyarani Devi (58kg) bagged a bronze medal. India also opened its medal tally in athletics, with Sarvesh Kushare winning India's first-ever high jump silver medal.
In Para athletics, Sharmila and Shilpa Shyla delivered a double podium finish for India in the women’s Shot Put F57 event, winning gold and bronze respectively

Weightlifting, Women's 53kg Final: Gyaneshwari opens with effortless 82kg lift!
India's Gyaneshwari Yadav made a confident start to the women's 53kg final, comfortably clearing 82kg in her opening snatch attempt.
The lift looked routine for the Indian, who completed it with ease to get herself on the board and build momentum for her remaining two attempts.

Boxing, Men's 80kg R16: Ankush wins Round 2!
Ankush Panghal continues to dominate this bout against Zalaan Jan.
The Indian is landing some clean punches. He allows his opponent to come to him, dodges and then lands cleanly on counters.
The judges agree as well, as the Indian takes the second round unanimously as well.
All he now has to do is not go too passive in the final three minutes.

Boxing, Men's 80kg R16: Ankush opens campaign!
Ankush Panghal takes on Zalaan Jan of Antigua in what is his campaign opener at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Ankush absolutely dominates the opening round, with all judges scoring it in his favour unanimously.

Artistic Gymnastics, Women's Vault final: Protistha Samanta in action
Protistha Samanta is the only Indian gymnast who has reached any Individual apparatus final in Glasgow.
She qualified for the Vault final with a good score of 13.025 points, finishing in 7th position in the qualifying round. Now, she will be hoping to convert this into a medal, but will have to improve her performance in the final.
Olympian Dipa Karmarkar is India's only female gymnast to win a medal at CWG, with her Vault bronze medal in 2014.

India's Gyaneshwari Yadav is set to compete in the women's 53kg weightlifting final at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
The 22-year-old will be looking to add to India's impressive weightlifting haul after Mirabai Chanu struck gold in the women's 48kg event, while Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi claimed silver medals in the men's 60kg and 65kg categories respectively.
As with all weightlifting events, athletes will get three attempts each in the snatch and clean & jerk, with the best successful lift from each discipline combined to determine the final standings.

Athletics: Lokesh Sathyanathan reaches long jump final despite two fouls!
India's Lokesh Sathyanathan qualified for the men's long jump final despite fouling his second and third attempts in the qualification round.
His opening jump of 7.77m proved enough to secure a place among the 12 finalists, as he advanced on ranking after no further improvements. Lokesh finished seventh overall in the qualification standings.
India will now have two representatives in the men's long jump final, with Murali Sreeshankar having earlier booked his spot with a first-attempt leap of 8.01m.

Boxing, Men's 60Kg Round of 16: Sachin wins the bout 4-1; advances to quarters
Hewitt gets what he wanted: An early point deduction over Sachin.
But he couldn't offer anything offensively, and Sachin clinched the final round unanimously and, despite having one caution point, bagged the bout 4-1.
He has now entered the quarterfinals and is just one win away from his maiden CWG medal.

Boxing, Men's 60Kg Round of 16: Sachin wins the second round 4-1
Sachin looked much more composed in the second round and waited for a low guard from Hewitt and found some heavy punches.
With this, he almost confirmed his win, having a 20-18 lead on four cards, while Hewitt had a lead on only one card, 20-18.
Hewitt's biggest chance will be there only if Sachin had a point deduction or Knockout Sachin.

Boxing, Men's 60Kg Round of 16: Sachin wins the first round 4-1
Hewitt starts the first round aggressively, commanding the centre of the ring, and finds some timely punches.
Sachin tried to defend his way out and find some counter punches of his own, and it was enough for him to win the round 4-1.

Athletics: Lokesh fouls second attempt in long jump qualification!
India's Lokesh Sathyanathan registered a foul on his second attempt in the men's long jump qualification after stepping beyond the take-off board.
With a best of 7.77m from his opening jump, the Indian now has one final attempt to either breach the automatic qualifying mark of 8.00m or improve his distance and keep his hopes of reaching the final alive.
