India had its most successful day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, as the Indian contingent added six medals to its tally on Monday.
Sunday belonged to India's weightlifters. Mirabai Chanu scripted history by clinching her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg event.
On Monday, the Indian weightlifters continued their performance, winning three more medals; Gyaneshwari Yadav (53 Kg) and Ajaya Babu Valluri (79 Kg) won silver medals.
On the other hand, Bindyarani Devi (58kg) bagged a bronze medal. India also opened its medal tally in athletics, with Sarvesh Kushare winning India's first-ever high jump silver medal.
In Para athletics, Sharmila and Shilpa Shyla delivered a double podium finish for India in the women’s Shot Put F57 event, winning gold and bronze respectively

Boxing, Men's 60Kg Round of 16 - Sachin Siwach in action
Sachin will take on William Hewitt of England in this second bout of the tournament. Hewitt has recently won a bronze medal at the Boxing World Cup in China.
The 26-year-old Indian had earlier claimed a close split-decision victory in his first-round bout against Canada's Karoma Al-Ahmadieh, while Hewitt had a bye.

Swimming, Men's 100m Breaststroke SB9: Swatik Patil qualifies for the final!
Para swimmer Swatik Patil qualified for the the men's 100m Breaststroke SB9 final. He clocked 1:15.85s to finish fourth in Heat 2.
Swatik is in sixth position in the overall standings with top 8 advancing to the final.
He is the second Indian swimmer after Sajan Prakash qualified for the men's 200m Butterfly.
Swatik will be in action in the final at 12:02AM.

Athletics: Lokesh Sathyanathan opens with 7.77m in long jump qualification!
India's Lokesh Sathyanathan began his men's long jump qualification campaign with a 7.77m effort in his opening attempt.
The jump leaves him short of the automatic qualifying mark of 8.00m, meaning the Indian will look to improve over his remaining two attempts to book a place in the final.

India's Lokesh Sathyanathan will be in action in Group B of the men's long jump qualification at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
With Murali Sreeshankar already securing his place in the final with a first-attempt leap of 8.01m, Lokesh will now look to join his compatriot in the medal round.
Athletes who achieve the automatic qualifying mark of 8.00m will advance directly to the final.

Athletics: Tejas Shirse storms into 110m hurdles final!
India's Tejas Shirse booked his place in the men's 110m hurdles final after finishing third in Heat 1 with a time of 13.76 seconds.
The national record holder secured one of the three automatic qualifying spots from the heat, finishing behind England's Samuel Bennett (13.20s) and Jamaica's Jerome Campbell (13.33s).
Tejas will return later tonight to contest the final and fight for a Commonwealth Games medal.

India's Tejas Shirse will be in action in Heat 1 of the men's 110m hurdles Round 1 at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Qualification to the final is straightforward - the top three finishers in each heat (Q) will earn automatic qualification, while the next two fastest athletes (q) across all heats will complete the final field.

Athletics, Men's 100m Heats: Gurindervir Singh bows out in the preliminary round
The Indian national record holder failed to progress from the 100m preliminary heats, finishing 28th with only 17 spots available for the semi-finals.
Overall, he placed 35th in the men’s 100m event, as seven athletes received byes into the semi-finals, resulting in his early elimination in Glasgow.
He clocked 10.39s in his heat, which is 0.30s slower than his national record of 10.09s set earlier this year at the Federation Cup.

Swimming, Men's 200m Butterfly Heats: Sajan Prakash qualifies for the final
Sajan clocked the sixth-best time in the heats (1:58.59s), which was enough to qualify for the 8-man final scheduled for 1:44 AM post-midnight on 27th July.
He has already bettered his 9th-place finish from the last edition of the games at Birmingham 2022 and will now aim to improve his position further in the final.

Swimming, Men's 200m Butterfly Heats: Sajan Prakash fights bravely against 8-time Olympic medalist
Sajan Prakash clocks a time of 1:58.59s in heat 2, finishing in second place just behind 8-time Olympic medalist Duncan Scott of Scotland, who clocked 1:58.29s.
The experienced Indian was leading at the 100m mark, but Duncan made a late push and just edged out the Indian.
Sajan is currently in 4th place in the overall standings with 8 athletes to go to the final, with 1 more heat to go.
