India had its most successful day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, as the Indian contingent added six medals to its tally on Monday.
Sunday belonged to India's weightlifters. Mirabai Chanu scripted history by clinching her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg event.
On Monday, the Indian weightlifters continued their performance, winning three more medals; Gyaneshwari Yadav (53 Kg) and Ajaya Babu Valluri (79 Kg) won silver medals.
On the other hand, Bindyarani Devi (58kg) bagged a bronze medal. India also opened its medal tally in athletics, with Sarvesh Kushare winning India's first-ever high jump silver medal.
In Para athletics, Sharmila and Shilpa Shyla delivered a double podium finish for India in the women’s Shot Put F57 event, winning gold and bronze respectively

Putul Sonowal will be in action for the final time at the Commonwealth Games when he faces Kenya's Anwar Hamada at 10:05 p.m. IST.
After defeats to Malaysia and Malta in his previous two matches, Putul dropped to third place in Section D. With only the section topper advancing to the semi finals, he is now out of medal contention.
He will hope to finish his Commonwealth Games debut with a victory.

Weightlifting, Women's 58kg: Bindyarani Devi wins BRONZE!
Nigeria's Lawal leapfrogs Bindyarani Devi with a massive 117kg lift in what was only her first clean and jerk attempt.
So, that's that.
Bindyarani Devi will return from the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a bronze medal.
That's a fifth weightlifting medal in as many events for India!

Weightlifting, Women's 58kg: Bindyarani drops 116kg!
Her third clean and jerk attempt and Bindyarani Devi drops 116kg.
She'll finish with a total of 199kg, that is an assured medal. But the colour of it is yet to be confirmed.
Bindya was unhappy with herself after that attempt and she doesn't shy away from expressing herself.

Bindyarani Devi bounces back. She goes up to 112kg regardless of the failed first attempt.
And this time she lifts it cleanly. She has climbed to the silver medal position with a total of 199kg, behind Canada's Ann Sophie Taschereau (205kg).

Weightlifting, Women's 58kg Final: Bindyarani completes perfect snatch with 87kg!
India's Bindyarani Devi rounded off a flawless snatch campaign by successfully lifting 87kg in her third and final attempt.
The Indian looked composed throughout, clearing 83kg, 85kg and 87kg in succession to finish the snatch with a perfect three-from-three record. She now heads into the clean and jerk firmly in contention for a Commonwealth Games medal.

India's Bindyarani Devi continued her solid start to the women's 58kg final by successfully lifting 85kg in her second snatch attempt.
The Indian looked in complete control once again, improving on her opening 83kg lift to strengthen her position heading into the final round of the snatch.
