India had its most successful day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, as the Indian contingent added six medals to its tally on Monday.
Sunday belonged to India's weightlifters. Mirabai Chanu scripted history by clinching her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg event.
On Monday, the Indian weightlifters continued their performance, winning three more medals; Gyaneshwari Yadav (53 Kg) and Ajaya Babu Valluri (79 Kg) won silver medals.
On the other hand, Bindyarani Devi (58kg) bagged a bronze medal. India also opened its medal tally in athletics, with Sarvesh Kushare winning India's first-ever high jump silver medal.
In Para athletics, Sharmila and Shilpa Shyla delivered a double podium finish for India in the women’s Shot Put F57 event, winning gold and bronze respectively

Weightlifting, Men's 79kg: Ajaya Babu Valluri with a 174kg lift!

The first clean and jerk attempt for Ajaya Babu Valluri and he's got it all in control. Lifts 174kg with ease and his total lift moves up to 323kg. That puts him in the gold medal position!

Athletics, Men's High Jump Final: Silver medal for Sarvesh Kushare
The 31-year-old failed all three of his attempts at 2.28m and settled for the silver medal with the best of 2.25m.
Romaine Beckford of Jamaica bagged the gold medal with the same mark of 2.25m, but he used a lesser number of attempts in the competition and hence edged out Sarvesh on countback.

Para Athletics, Women's Shot Put F57 Final: Gold medal for Sharmila with the best of 9.81m
The Nigerian athlete Iyiazi could only lift 8.19m on her first attempt and then had five fouls on the trot, which meant she finished in third position.
Hence, Sharmila, who was leading the pack with 9.81m, clinched the title and India's first gold in Para Sports at this edition.

Athletics, Men's High Jump Final: Sarvesh Kushare confirms a medal with a clearance at 2.25m
Sarvesh had a sigh of relief as he cleared the mark at 2.25m mark on his final attempt, that too despite a wobble in the bar because of the slightest of touches.
The bar, however, didn't fall, and with this, he also confirmed his medal, as only three athletes are left in the competition.

Para Athletics, Women's Shot Put F57 Final: Medal confirmed for Sharmila; stands at top with the best of 9.81m
Sharmila confirmed a top-2 position in the women's shot put F57 final, with a season-best throw of 9.81m.
She started her competition with a 9.48m throw and then bettered it in her second attempt at 9.58m, before registering a new season best of 9.81m on her third attempt.
She had throws of 9.17mm, 9.37m and 9.60m on her final attempt and ended her competition with the best of 9.81m.
She is now at the top of the pack with just one more athlete (Nigeria's E Iyiazi) to come, confirmig her atleast a silver medal.

Sajan Prakash finishes eighth in men's 200m butterfly final!
Sajan Prakash finished eighth in the men's 200m butterfly final, clocking 1:58.05 at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
New Zealand's Lewis Clareburt clinched the gold medal with a Games record time of 1:55.05, while Australia's Harrison Turner (1:55.38) and Matthew Temple (1:55.45) claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

A disappointing outing for Aadarsh Ram, who had a clear record before this height but couldn't find any valid attempt at the 2.20m mark.
Four athletes have breached this mark, with Sarvesh leading the pack. An exciting fight for the medals starts now.

Swimming, Men's 200m Butterfly: Sajan Prakash finishes last!
A forgettable outing for the Indian veteran as Sajan Prakash finishes dead last in the men's butterfly final.
He clocks 1:58.05s to finish eighth, a whole three seconds behind the gold medallist Lewis Clareburt of New Zealand.

Athletics, Men's High Jump Final: Sarvesh Kushare clears the 2.20m mark on his first attempt
He is the only high jumper who has a clear card in the competition and is right now at the top of the standings.
After the clearance at 2.20m, he ran straight to former National record holder Tejaswin Shankar to get his views on his jump.
