India had its most successful day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, as the Indian contingent added six medals to its tally on Monday.
Sunday belonged to India's weightlifters. Mirabai Chanu scripted history by clinching her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg event.
On Monday, the Indian weightlifters continued their performance, winning three more medals; Gyaneshwari Yadav (53 Kg) and Ajaya Babu Valluri (79 Kg) won silver medals.
On the other hand, Bindyarani Devi (58kg) bagged a bronze medal. India also opened its medal tally in athletics, with Sarvesh Kushare winning India's first-ever high jump silver medal.
In Para athletics, Sharmila and Shilpa Shyla delivered a double podium finish for India in the women’s Shot Put F57 event, winning gold and bronze respectively

That's a wrap from day 5 of the Commonwealth Games 2026!
After an action-packed final two hours, India significantly improved its Commonwealth Games medal tally with four more medals in three different sports in Glasgow on Monday.
Sarvesh Kushare clinched silver in the men’s high jump, while Ajaya Babu Valluri earned silver in the men’s 79kg weightlifting category.
In the women’s Shot Put F57 event, Sharmila and Shilpa Shyla delivered a double podium finish for India, winning gold and bronze respectively.
Earlier in the day, India had two more weightlifting medals with Gyaneshwari Yadav (53Kg) winning the silver medal and Bindyarani Devi (58Kg) bagging a bronze medal.
Competition resumes on Tuesday with action in bowls, boxing, weightlifting, swimming, and athletics. Four medal events are scheduled, two each in athletics and weightlifting.

Para Athletics, Women's Shot Put F57 Final: Shilpa Shyla upgraded to bronze medal position
After a late correction, Nigeria's Eucharia Iyiazi's first attempt was also judged invalid, and hence she had no mark and Shilpa, who was in fourth place, was upgraded to bronze.
This also meant India would now have a double podium in women's shot put F57, with Sharmila Dhankar bagging a gold and Shilpa with the bronze.

Athletics, Men's High Jump Final: Sarvesh Kushare wins India's first-ever high jump silver medal at CWG
At 31, he is enjoying the best form of his career, having broken India’s 8-year-old high jump national record this year. Last year, he also had a top-6 finish at the World Championships.
He also made history as the country’s first Diamond League high jump entrant this year and now claimed India’s first-ever CWG high jump silver medal.
