India heads into Day 4 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 looking to build on Jhandu Kumar's bronze medal, with several medal hopefuls in action across weightlifting, boxing, bowls, gymnastics and swimming.
The spotlight was on Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu, who bagged her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal. Meanwhile, Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi bagged silver medals in their respective weight categories.
Elsewhere, boxers Preeti Pawar and Jadumani Singh reached the quarterfinals, while Aditya Pratap Yadav lost out in the round of pre-quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh had two bowls matches. Putul Sonowal, Tapan Mohanty, and the Indian men's swimming relay team were also in action.

Weightlifting, Men's 60Kg Final: Rishikanta Singh improves his mark to 119Kg in his second attempt
Rishikanta looked much more comfortable in the second attempt, despite adding 3 more kg to his mark.
Kasdan once again matched him with a lift of 119kg in his second attempt.

Weightlifting, Men's 60Kg Final: Rishikanta Singh starts with a lift of 116Kg in snatch
The Indian had a slight step back, but he maintained his balance to have a good start to his competition and went into the lead after the first lift of all 11 athletes.
Kasdan of Malaysia also cleared 116Kg

Weightlifting, Men's 60Kg Final: Rishikanta Singh is India's National Record Holder
He had his best performance at last year's Commonwealth Championships with a 271Kg total Lift (120 Snatch + 151 C&J) to win the title and set India's new National record.
In weightlifting, athletes get three attempts each in the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. The best successful lift from each discipline is added together to make the athlete’s total.
The three lifters with the highest totals win the medals. In case of a tie, the athlete who lifted the total first is ranked higher.
In this field, Malaysia's Bin Kasdan has the highest Personal Best in 60Kg, lifting 277Kg at the Asian Championships 2026.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: India suffers its first defeat at the Commonwealth Games 2026
India made a strong start against Namibia but lost the first set 7-5. The Indian pair bounced back in the second set with a dominant 10-1 victory to force a tie-breaker.
However, the tie-break went completely in Namibia's favour as India suffered its first defeat at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
India will now face England in its final match of Section B at 10:05 P.M. IST later today, and will need a win to qualify for the semi-finals.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: India win Set 2, and the match goes into a tie breaker.
Rupa Rani Tirkey started with an impressive performance; in her second delivery, India got the bowl nearest to the jack, but Namibia took the jack to a different direction. But Pinki Singh once again did what she does best, getting the bowl near to win set 2 and taking the match to a tie-breaker with a score of 10-1.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: India adds one more point to its lead !!
Namibia started End 4 with its bowl closest to the jack, while Rupa Rani struggled to regain the advantage. Pinki Singh, however, turned the end around with a brilliant final bowl that finished nearest to the jack, helping India earn one point and extend its lead.

End 3 began with Rupa Rani placing her bowl close to the jack to give India an early advantage. However, Namibia turned the end around by moving the jack in its favour and picked up one point.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: India takes a seven-point lead !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
India continued to dominate in Set 2 after a strong start. Namibia had an opportunity to score in End 2, but Pinki Singh used her experience to place India's bowls closest to the jack. India collected three more points from the end, extending its lead to 7-0 after two ends.

The much-awaited weightlifting programme is set to commence today.
The men's 60 kg final will be the first medal event of the sport, starting at 2:15 PM IST, with 11 entries.
India's Rishikanta Singh will be in action, who is one of the gold medal favourites of the event alongside Malaysia's Bin Kasdan Mohamad Aniq.
He will start the snatch event at 118 Kg, the highest among all 11 weightlifters.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: India takes a four-point lead in Set 2 !!!!!
Rupa Rani gave India a strong start in Set 2 by placing her bowl closest to the jack in the opening end, giving Namibia no opportunity to score. Pinki Singh continued the momentum in the second end as India picked up more points to take a commanding 4-0 lead after end 1.
