India heads into Day 4 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 looking to build on Jhandu Kumar's bronze medal, with several medal hopefuls in action across weightlifting, boxing, bowls, gymnastics and swimming.
The spotlight was on Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu, who bagged her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal. Meanwhile, Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi bagged silver medals in their respective weight categories.
Elsewhere, boxers Preeti Pawar and Jadumani Singh reached the quarterfinals, while Aditya Pratap Yadav lost out in the round of pre-quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh had two bowls matches. Putul Sonowal, Tapan Mohanty, and the Indian men's swimming relay team were also in action.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: Namibia wins the first set
India needed points in the final end to win the set, but Rupa Rani struggled to get her bowls closest to the jack. Namibia took full advantage, placing their bowls nearest to the jack to earn three points and win the first set 7-5.

In End 2, Namibia made a strong start, but Rupa Rani turned the game in India's favour. Pinki Singh carried that momentum forward, making sure India stayed in control of the end. The Indian pair picked up three points to extend their lead to 5-0 after End 2.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs Namibia: India takes a two-point lead !!!
End 1 of Set 1 started with Namibia's opening bowl falling short of the jack. Rupa Rani then placed her bowl closer, but it was still not enough to earn India any points as Namibia moved nearest to the jack midway through the end. Pinki Singh's next delivery gave India hope, with her bowl finishing closest to the jack. Her final delivery sealed the advantage for India, helping the team pick up two points and take a 2-0 lead after End 1.

Recap: Siwach advances; Rupa-Pinki stay unbeaten on Day 3!
India enjoyed a mixed outing on Day 3 of the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Sachin Siwach progressed to the men's 55kg Round of 16 after defeating Canada's Keoma Al Ahmadieh, while Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh maintained their unbeaten run in the women's pairs lawn bowls competition with a hard-fought win over Tonga.
Elsewhere, Aryan Nehra and Dhakshan Shashikumar bowed out in the men's 400m freestyle heats, while Putul Sonowal suffered his first defeat of the Games in the men's singles bowls competition.
India's women's artistic gymnastics team also missed out on a medal after finishing fifth in their subdivision of the team final, and the women's 3x3 wheelchair basketball team lost 1-16 to Wales in its Commonwealth Games debut.
