India looked to build on Jhandu Kumar's bronze medal, which opened the country's account at the Commonwealth Games 2026, as the action shifted to Day 3 in Glasgow.
The day saw Indian athletes compete across bowls, boxing, swimming, artistic gymnastics and 3x3 women's wheelchair basketball.
Boxer Sachin Siwach began his campaign in the men's 55kg round of 32, while Aryan Nehra and Dhakshan Shashikumar competed in the men's 400m freestyle heats. India's women's artistic gymnastics team also competed in the evening session.
India also continued its group stage action in lawn bowls, with Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh facing Tonga in the women's pairs, while Putul Sonowal took on Malaysia in the men's singles.

Both players tried to get their bowls close to the jack, but neither managed to land very near. Ultimately, Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple placed his bowl closest, scoring 2 points and extending his lead to 5-2.

Putul made the most of his chances in End 2, picking up two points to reduce the point gap. The score now stands at 3-2.

Set 1 was completely dominated by Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple, who gave Putul very few chances to score and never allowed him to take the lead. Izzat closed out the set with an 8-4 victory.

Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple took control of End 6, giving Putul no chance to score. He picked up another point to extend his lead to 5-0.

The Indian team, comprising Eshitaa Rewale, Nishika Agarwal, Pranati Nayak, and Protistha Samanta, will compete in Subdivision-3 of the Women’s Team Final.
There are four subdivisions, and the top three teams across all subdivisions (based on the highest aggregate scores) will win the medals, as there is no qualification round.
Each subdivision consists of four rotations. In every rotation, the team performs on one apparatus, with the scores of the three best athletes combined to determine the team’s score on that apparatus.
India will start with the Vault Programme in Rotation 1: Eshitaa Rewale to start

The end started with the advantage in Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple's hands, but Putul turned it around with his final deliveries to earn two points. The score moved to 4-3, leaving Putul just one point away from equalising the match.
