India looked to build on Jhandu Kumar's bronze medal, which opened the country's account at the Commonwealth Games 2026, as the action shifted to Day 3 in Glasgow.
The day saw Indian athletes compete across bowls, boxing, swimming, artistic gymnastics and 3x3 women's wheelchair basketball.
Boxer Sachin Siwach began his campaign in the men's 55kg round of 32, while Aryan Nehra and Dhakshan Shashikumar competed in the men's 400m freestyle heats. India's women's artistic gymnastics team also competed in the evening session.
India also continued its group stage action in lawn bowls, with Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh facing Tonga in the women's pairs, while Putul Sonowal took on Malaysia in the men's singles.

India lost any chance of a medal in the women's team event, but might have an individual final in the women's vault as Protistha Samantha is in the top 3 after subdivision 3.

Artistic Gymnastics, Women's Team Final: No medal for India; finishes 5th after subdivision-3
India scored 29.850 points from the floor exercise to accumulate an aggregate score of 123 points and is currently in 5th position, ending their medal chances in the team event.
The fourth and final subdivision will start at 10:50 PM IST and have 4 more teams, meaning India might fall further down in the overall team rankings.
Meanwhile, Protistha Samantha (42.250 points) and Eshitaa Rawale (41.700 Points) will have a chance to qualify for the Women's All-Round Individual final.

Another under-30 rotation in Balance Beam pushed India further behind the podium, increasing the gap with three by more than 10 points.

Eshitaa Rewale and Protistha Samanta were the highest scorers for India, scoring 10.100 points each, followed by Nishka Agarwal (9.000), while Pranati Nayak skipped this apparatus as well.
India's combined total was fourth best among the seven teams that have completed the Balance Beam programme.
In the final rotation, India will move to Floor Exercise, with Protistha Samantha to start the programme.

After a poor outing in uneven bars, India dropped to 5th place in team standings among the 8 teams that have finished the two rotations so far.

Artistic Gymnastics, Women's Team Final: A poor outing for India in uneven bars, scoring just 27.400 points
A disappointing result for India in uneven bars as they couldn't cross the 30-point mark because of a lack of difficulty in their routine.
Eshitaa Rewale was the highest scorer for India, scoring 9.550 points, followed by Nishka Agarwal (9.350) and Protistha Samanta (8.550), while Pranati Nayak decided to skip this one.
India's combined total was fifth best among the seven teams that have completed the Uneven Bars programme.
In rotation-3, India will move to Balance Beam, with Eshitaa Rewale to start the programme.

Protistha Samanta was the highest scorer for India, scoring an impressive 12.950 points, followed by Pranati Nayak (11.950) and Eshitaa Rewale (11.750)
Meanwhile, Nishka Agarwal touched the floor with her on landing and hence, because of a deduction, scored only 11.450 points, which will not be counted for the team event, being the lowest of the four scores.
India's combined total of 36.650 is currently the best among the six teams that have completed the Vault programme.
In rotation-2, India will move to uneven bars, with Nishka Agarwal to start the program.

Bowls Men's Singles, Section D, India vs Malaysia: Putul loses his first match in the Commonwealth Games.
Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple dominated both sets and, not even for a second in the match gave Putul any sort of lead, resulting in him defeating Putul in straight sets of 8-4, 9-8, giving Putul his first loss.

Bowls Men's Singles, Section D, India vs Malaysia: Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple dominates end 5
Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple gave no chance to Putul to even reach near the bowl, taking a full lead of the match in end 5 and leading by 5 points, with the score at 9-4, making a huge trouble for Putul.
