India built on its strong start to the Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign with another medal-packed day in Glasgow, with three medals on Wednesday.
Murali Sreeshankar opened the tally on the day, winning the silver medal in men's long jump with a leap of 8.09m. Minutes later, Dilip Gavit and Mohammed Basil followed in men's 100m T47, completing a double podium for India.
Elsewhere, it was heartbreak for Manpreet Kaur (Shot Put) and Suyash Jadhav (Para Swimming) as they ended up in fourth place in their respective events.
In boxing, six pugilists booked their spots in the semi-finals, confirming medals for India in Glasgow, while in athletics, national record holder Animesh Kujur qualified for the 200m semi-finals.
In weightlifting, India had only one medal event, but the teenager Sanjana couldn't find a valid lift in 77 kg snatch and bowed out of the competition early.

Athletics, Men's 200m Round 1: Animesh Kujur finishes in 20.46s to win Heat 4
Animesh clocks a new season-best time of 20.46s to finish heat 4 in top position and starts his Commonwealth Games campaign on a high.
He is currently in 5th place in the overall standings and will now have to wait for the other 6 heats to finish.
The final standings will decide his future in Glasgow, as only the top 16 runners will qualify for the semi-finals.

Athletics, Men's Shot Put Qualification Round: Samardeep Gill has also qualified for the final
Samardeep just fell short of the automatic qualification mark of 20m.
But his first attempt at 19.95m was enough for him to book his spot in one of the top 12 available quotas for the final.
He finished the qualification round in 5th place and joined his experienced compatriot Tajinder Pal Singh Toor in the final.

Athletics, Men's Shot Put Qualification Round: Tajinderpal Singh Toor advances to final
The National record holder breached the automatic qualification mark of 20m. He attained a distance of 20.14m on his second attempt to qualify for the final.
Earlier, he had started with a throw of 19.93m in his first attempt. He is currently in second position in the overall standings, just behind Tom Walsh of New Zealand (21.03m).

Para Swimming, Men's 50m Freestyle S7 Heats: Chaitanya Kulkarni and Suyash Jadhav advance to final
Chitanya Kulkarni finished 4th with a time of 32.77s, and Suyash finished 6th with 35.35s.
Both swimmers will return to hunt for a medal at 12.46 Am later tonight.

Swimming, Men's 200m Freestyle Heats: Anesh Gowda finishes 7th in heat 5; Bows out of the final race
Both Sajan and Aneesh Gowda missed out on a place in the final, finishing in 18th and 20th positions, respectively.
Aneesh clocked a better time of 1:51.64s than his senior compatriot, but it wasn't enough for them to qualify for the 8-man final, which has a cut-off at 1:47.46s.

Swimming, Men's 200m Freestyle Heats: Sajan Praksh finishes 5th in heat 4
Sajan clocked 1:51.99s to finish 5th in heat 4.
He is currently in 7th position and will have to wait for the results of two more heats to confirm his chances of further qualification.
