India heads into Day 6 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 on the back of another productive day in Glasgow, winning six medals across three different sports.
On Tuesday, Harjinder Kaur and Gulveer Singh stole the spotlight for India, winning a silver medal each in the women's 69kg weightlifting and men's 10,000m, respectively, with record-breaking performances.
Meanwhile, three boxers - Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas and Jadumani Singh - progressed to the semi-finals of their respective weight categories to guarantee themselves at least bronze medals.
Elsewhere, Srihari Nataraj finished sixth in his semi-final and 12th overall, failing to make it past the men's 100m backstroke final. He clocked 55.52s.
Vishal TK, India's national record holder in the men's 400m, also advanced to the semi-finals with a 46.49s run.

Athletics, Men's 10,000m Final: Gulveer Singh wins a silver medal; stuns Olympic medalist Edwin Kurgat of Kenya
An outstanding race for the Indian middle-distance star, keeping himself in the leading pack throughout the race and then bagging a silver medal with a last 200m dash.
He was in 4th place just before the final lap, but then he showcased his kick to pip the Olympic medalist Edwin Kurgat of Kenya and clock 27:49.78s to finish second.
This was also India's first medal in the men's 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games and also the first time in 30 years that no Kenyan has finished on the podium of this event.

Boxing, Men's 90kg: Kapil Pokhariya set to take the ring
Kapil Pokhariya will be the final Indian boxer in action on the day. He goes up against Scotland's Robert McNulty in the men's 90kg quarter-final.
As usual, a win assures Kapil and India of a medal. Start time 1:30 am IST.

Gulveer is keeping pace with the leading pack and not letting anyone from the chasing pack to overtake.
Altough, its very early in the race with 7700m more to go, Gulveer surely has a good start in such tough conditions.

India's Nayanmoni Saikia begins her women's singles campaign today at the Commonwealth games. The experienced bowler is making her fourth Commonwealth games appearance and was part of India's historic gold medal-winning women's fours team at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth games.
Nayanmoni Saikia will take on Amy Williams of Wales in her opening Section C match. The contest is scheduled to begin at 1:10 PM IST.

Athletics, Men's 10,000m Final; Gulveer Singh in action
Indian middle-distance expert and National record holder Gulveer Singh will begin his campaign with the men's 10,000m final.
Gulveer has a big challenge in the 15-man final, as he is up against some of the top Kenyan runners, including Olympic medalists Edwin Kurgat.

Silver and three national records for Harjinder Kaur!!
India's Harjinder Kaur clinched the silver medal in the women's 69kg weightlifting event after a superb final 126kg clean and jerk lift.
The lift saw Harjinder rewrite the 69kg national records in all three categories:
Snatch: 101kg
Clean and Jerk: 126kg
Total: 227kg
Harjinder finished with a 227kg total (101kg + 126kg) to secure India's latest silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Harjinder Kaur clears 123kg in clean and jerk!
India's Harjinder Kaur successfully lifted 123kg in her second clean and jerk attempt in the women's 69kg weightlifting final.
With a 101kg snatch and 123kg clean and jerk, Harjinder has taken her total to 224kg and remains in contention as the competition heads into the final round of lifts.

India's Harjinder Kaur made a confident start to the clean and jerk, successfully lifting 120kg on her opening attempt in the women's 69kg weightlifting final.
After posting 101kg in the snatch, Harjinder remains firmly in medal contention heading into her final two clean and jerk attempts.
