Padmini Rout win 30th Swiss Queens Wednesday Blitz Event

International Master (IM) Padmini Rout of India emerged victorious in the 30th edition of the Swiss Queens Wednesday Blitz event, a part of the FIDE’s 100th-anniversary celebrations.
Padmini, who scored an impressive 9 out of a possible 11, tied for first place with IM Olga Badelka of Russia but claimed the title due to better margin in the tiebreaks.
Olga Badelka, who also scored 9/11, fought well but had to settle for second place due to the tiebreak system.
The Swiss Queens Wednesday series is a weekly virtual event held on ChessArena.com, the FIDE Online Arena platform. The event, which began on January 31, continues every Wednesday, attracting top female chess talent from around the world and celebrating the achievements of women in chess.
The Blitz event features a Swiss pairing system with a Blitz time control of 3 minutes plus 1 second per move. The event is open to all women chess players holding either FIDE or FIDE Online Arena titles.
The series has become a popular fixture in the online chess calendar, with a $1,000 prize fund per event, attracting top women talents from across the world.
