BWF World C'ships Day 2: Lakshya, Unnati advance - Highlights
Catch all the highlights from the second day of the BWF World Championships in New Delhi, India, on Tuesday.
The second day of the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi saw a mixed outing for the Indian shuttlers with three wins and three losses.
Lakshya Sen, world no 14 and 2021 World Championship bronze medalist, fought it out in a three setter. The Indian beat Collins Valentine Filimon (Austria) 16-21, 21-8, 21-4 while the young Unnati Hooda beat Thet Htar Thuzar (Myanmar) in straight sets 22-20, 21-16.
Women’s doubles pairs Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were the other Indians who advanced in the tournament.

Another Indian women’s doubles pair, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, are in action against USA’s Lauren Lam and Allison Quynh Lee.
The Indian duo have made a strong start, taking the opening game 21-15. They have carried that momentum into the second game and currently lead 10-4.
Treesa and Gayatri also have another reason to celebrate. The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced the National Sports Awards 2025 on Tuesday, with the Arjuna Award set to be given to 17 meritorious sportspersons. The Indian women’s doubles pair feature among the awardees.

The Indian pair showed glimpses of a comeback in the second game but could not maintain the momentum as the experienced Bulgarian duo closed out the match.
