BWF World C'ships Day 2: Lakshya, Unnati advance - Highlights

The second day of the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi saw a mixed outing for the Indian shuttlers with three wins and three losses.
Lakshya Sen, world no 14 and 2021 World Championship bronze medalist, fought it out in a three setter. The Indian beat Collins Valentine Filimon (Austria) 16-21, 21-8, 21-4 while the young Unnati Hooda beat Thet Htar Thuzar (Myanmar) in straight sets 22-20, 21-16.
Women’s doubles pairs Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were the other Indians who advanced in the tournament.

- Mixed Doubles: Ashith Surya/Amrutha Pramuthesh lose to Emre Sonmez/Yasemen Bektas (Turkey) 21-16, 29-30, 22-24.
- Women’s Doubles: Kavipriya Selvam/Simran Singhi lose to Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva (Bulgaria) 7-21, 14-21.
- Women’s Doubles: Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand beat Lauren Lam/Allison Quynh Lee (USA) 21-15, 21-12.
- Men’s Singles: Lakshya Sen beat Collins Valentine Filimon (Austria) 16-21, 21-8, 21-4.
