PV Sindhu is the lone woman standing and she has a stiff challenge to conquer in the form of familiar foe and reigning World Champion Akane Yamaguchi for a place in the finals at Manila, Phillippines.
Interestingly, Sindhu put up a dominant show against her Tokyo bronze match opponent He Bingjiao in the quarters and now she needs to tame Yamaguchi, who she defeated at the quarters of the Olympics.

Yamaguchi takes the second game!
That was close, that was very close, but Yamaguchi takes the second game 21-19. Off we go into the decider. A brilliant display of net-play from both players before Sindhu's shot deflected back to her own side. Heartbreak for the Indian, she seemed to have this contest in her pocket but has to reset now.

Sindhu draws level!
She is angry and she is taking it out with her gameplay is Sindhu. Draws level at 19-19 with a stunning smash and let's out a big roar.

Yamaguchi takes the lead!
That incident seems to have thrown Sindhu off the track completely. Yamaguchi has a fresh wave of energy and the shots are now flowing from her racquet. The Japanese leads 18-16 in the second game.

PV Sindhu is once again up arguing against the officials. Her service was taken away for not taking too long to get ready and the Indian makes her displeasure felt.

The Japanese fans in the crowd are getting right behind Akane Yamaguchi as she tries to fight back. The decibel levels in the court seems to have gone up by a lot all of a sudden.

Multiple unforced errors from PV Sindhu now and Yamaguchi has closed the gap at 10-12. Sindhu has lost her first challenge of the second game as well. The Japanese is trying her best to cling on.

This is sensational from PV Sindhu. She has gone from 1-4 down to 11-6 lead at the mid-game break. Some wonderful net play from the two-time Olympic medallist and Yamaguchi has no clue as to what hit her.
