National Junior Athletics C’ships 2024: Rohan Yadav wins javelin gold on final day
The meet drew to a close after five days of enthralling action.
The final day of the 39th National Junior Athletics Championships 2024 put forth as many of 17 finals at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Friday.
All eyes were on Dipanshu Sharma and Rohan Yadav, who had won gold and silver in the Javelin Throw at U20 Asian Athletics Championships.
Tonight, however, Rohan Yadav finished first with a throw of 69.73m, even as Dipanshu Sharma managed just 68.89m.
In the men’s and women’s U20 4x400m relay races, Tamil Nadu took top honours.
Tamil Nadu picked up gold by clocking 3:13.53s in the men’s U20 4x400m relay, followed by Kerala and Bihar.
Meanwhile, in the women’s U20 4x400m relay, the quartet from Tamil Nadu clocked 3:41.01s to pick up gold, while Delhi and Kerala completed the podium.
In other results, Sumit Rathee clocked a new meet record to bag gold in men’s U20 3,000m steeplechase with a timing of 8:45.75s.
