Indian Grand Prix 2: Animesh Kujur, Rajesh Ramesh and Vithya Ramraj shine - Highlights

With only 10 days remaining until the start of the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, most prominent names of Indian athletics were missing in action at the Indian Grand Prix-2.
Animesh Kujur, the only elite name in the line up, clocked 10.31s in men’s 100m and 20.55s in 200m. His efforts were the fastest on paper across both sprint distances.
Tamil Nadu’s Rajesh Ramesh (45.77s) started the year with a brilliant time of 45.77s to win the 400m title. He became the first Indian to go sub-46s this year.
Jay Kumar (46.53) and Rince Joseph (46.72s) were some prominent runners in the men’s 400m event.
In the women’s section, Tamil Nadu’s R Vithya Ramraj topped the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.45s. She will be seen in action in Gumi in both 400m and 400m hurdles.
However, on Saturday, she ran the 200m and finished behind Kerala's Sneha K.
Subha Venkatesan (53.57), Jisna Mathew (53.78) and Gowri Nandana (54.34) were some familiar faces in the women’s 400m race.
Events like the women’s 800m, javelin throw and long jump events had minimal participation.

Women's Javelin Throw has only two participants - Assam's Runjun Pegu and Haryana's Pooja. The NR stands in the name of Annu Rani at 63.82.
In the Men's triple Jump, Praveen Chithravel holds the national record of 17.37m.
