Indian star sprinters and quarter-milers were in quest for gold medals on the second day of the 2026 Senior National Federation Cup in Ranchi on Friday.
Indian national record holders, Annu Rani in women's javelin and Tejaswin Shankar in men's decathlon, were also fighting for their place at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The 1500m finals, Women's Shot Put, Women's Long Jump and Women's Pole Vault finals champions were also crowned on the day.

Tejaswin Shankar wins the men's decathlon title with a new national record of 8057 points
With a new personal best of 4:29.02s in 1500m, he has become the first Indian to cross the 8000 points in decathlon to shatter his own NR of 7826 points.
He is just the 8th player in the world to breach 8000 points this year and is the 5th best in the world, leading right now.
A former high jump medalist from the Commonwealth Games has now booked his spot for another CWG but in a different discipline.

Vishal TK wins the men's 400m title with a new national record of 44.98s
Vishal TK became the first-ever Indian to cross the sub-45s mark in the 400m men's and has rewritten his own national record.
He, however, marginally missed out on the Commonwealth mark of 44.96s by just 0.02s.

A massive improvement from Gurindervir Singh, improving his personal best (10.17s) and easily breaching the Commonwealth Games mark (10.16s)
Animesh Kujur (10.20s) and Pranav Pramod (10.29s) won the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Sudeshna wins the women's 100m title with a time of 11.56s
No CWG qualification for India in women's 100m as the qualifying mark was set at 11.17s.
