Asian Games 2026: India enjoyed another strong day at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, winning four shooting medals while continuing their impressive run across hockey, kabaddi, table tennis and badminton.
Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, giving India their first-ever double podium in the event at the Asian Games. India also won silver in the team event through Rudrankksh, Himanshu and Parth Mane.
Suchika Tariyal created history by winning India’s first-ever Asian Games MMA medal, taking bronze in the women’s Traditional 60kg category.
The hockey teams continued their dominance, with the women thrashing Indonesia 17-1 and the men winning 13-1. India’s kabaddi teams also impressed, with the women beating Bangladesh 42-21 and the men defeating Japan 49-24.
The men’s and women’s table tennis teams both beat Pakistan 3-0, while the men’s badminton team defeated Bangladesh 3-0. Boxer Sumit Kundu and wushu fighters Roshibina Devi and Aryan also advanced in their respective events.
India will return on Tuesday with more medal opportunities, including the women’s cricket gold-medal match against Sri Lanka and the women’s badminton quarterfinal against Japan.

A penalty corner for India; and as has been the case this tournament, Deepika Sehrawat's drag flick is unstoppable.

India continue to pile misery on their hapless opponents. The ball is crossed in from the left flank, where they have been very lethal through out the match.
The goalkeeper stretches her leg to intercept, but again the ball falls to an Indian.
Sakshi Rana takes control, bamboozles the defenders around her and nets her first goal.

Brilliant teamwork between the Indians. Navneet Kaur puts the ball to Neha Goyal inside the circle. The veteran midfielder has all it takes to net a goal but she selflessly passes it to Rutuja Pisal.
The sliding youngster makes the most of it, deflecting it into the net for her second goal of the match.

Yet another penalty corner for Navneet Kaur and she once again, instead of a full blooded drag flick, looks for a deflection from one of her forwards.
Doesn't work out well this time as the Indonesians clear it away.

The second quarter just go underway and India have found yet another goal. There's a bit of chaos in front of the goal with Navneet struggling with the goalkeeper.
The loose ball from rebound falls to Lalremsiami, who duly powers in a backhand for her second goal of the match.

It is Navneet Kaur with the drag flick and Viren Rasquinha, on air, observes that Navneet didn't hit it hard intentionally.
The drag flick is blocked and the rebound brings Lalremsiami into play. The Mizo athlete is perfectly placed to slot it in.

Soft Tennis, Mixed Doubles Round of 16: Jay Meena-Aadhya Tiwari lose and exit the competition
Indian pair Jay Meena and Aadhya Tiwari had an early exit as they lost 2-5 (4-2, 2-4, 2-4, 3-5, 2-4, 5-3, 6-8) in the Round of 16 to the Philippines.
The duo had a good start, winning the first game, but then lost the next four and eventually bowed out after the fighting last two games to Christy Sanosa and Sherwin Nuguit by 2-5.
