Asian Games 2026: India enjoyed another strong day at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, winning four shooting medals while continuing their impressive run across hockey, kabaddi, table tennis and badminton.
Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, giving India their first-ever double podium in the event at the Asian Games. India also won silver in the team event through Rudrankksh, Himanshu and Parth Mane.
Suchika Tariyal created history by winning India’s first-ever Asian Games MMA medal, taking bronze in the women’s Traditional 60kg category.
The hockey teams continued their dominance, with the women thrashing Indonesia 17-1 and the men winning 13-1. India’s kabaddi teams also impressed, with the women beating Bangladesh 42-21 and the men defeating Japan 49-24.
The men’s and women’s table tennis teams both beat Pakistan 3-0, while the men’s badminton team defeated Bangladesh 3-0. Boxer Sumit Kundu and wushu fighters Roshibina Devi and Aryan also advanced in their respective events.
India will return on Tuesday with more medal opportunities, including the women’s cricket gold-medal match against Sri Lanka and the women’s badminton quarterfinal against Japan.

Kabaddi, Men's Team Group Stage: India beats Japan to start their campaign
Japan showed some grit in the second half but India's first-half (31-9) domination proved enough to secure a solid 25-point win, with India winning the match 49-24.
India had pulled four all-outs and two super tackles to showcase their class and begin their title defence with a solid win against the hosts.

The Indian captain has her first goal of the tournament. Navneet Kaur once again with a brilliant run, creating the chance.
It is almost fluffed in front of the goal, but Salima Tete comes to the rescue and somehow manages to push the ball into the net.

An early penalty corner in the third quarter for Indonesia. The first attempt hits the rusher and a second is handed.
After a bit of chaos in the second Sri Rahayu has found the net, beating Bichu Devi. This is the first goal India has conceded at the 2026 Asian Games.

Kabaddi, Men's Team Group Stage: 35' - India slows down a bit, and Japan wins a few consecutive points
Japan has been succesful to stop India in this low-scoring second half, showcasing some good patient defence and agile raids.
India has only scored 12 points so far in this half, in comparison to 31 they did in the first, while Japan has already scored 11, surpassing their first-half score of 9.

Kabaddi, Men's Team Group Stage: 26' - India gains a 26-point lead over Japan
Indian men's kabaddi team started their campaign strongly as they gained a 26-point lead over Japan in their first group match.
The Indian team has already induced four all-outs against Japan in the first 35 minutes, currently leading 42-16.
Meanwhile, Japan is just relying on bonus points, as nine of their sixteen points have come only from Bonus points.
