The Indian contingent registered its first win at the Asian Games 2018 as the country's women's Kabaddi team completely sunk down the challenge put up by Japan in their Group A opener here on 19 August. India won 43-12 in a dominant encounter. The match was too one-sided even though the the Japanese defense did mount a certain amount of problem for the resolute Indian team. The best and most positive take away from the match was that the Indian team were not complacent at any point in the game. Captain Payel Choudhary, Sakshi Kumari, Randeep and Ritu were the standout players. The men's team, also one of the favourites, start their campaign against Bangladesh later in the day followed by a match against Sri Lanka in the evening. Both the Indian Kabaddi teams will be raring to go. Remember, India has won all kabaddi golds across all genders since the team was included as a part of the Asian Games. The 43-12 victory by the Indian women's team earlier today is just the first step in what will hopefully be a wonderful journey.
Till now, India has had a positive start in Day 1 where shooting especially has seen a few perfect performances. Seema Tomar and Manavjit Singh Sandhu managed to register top place finishes after their first round of shots in the qualification while the 10mt Air Rifle mixed team of Ravi Kumar and Apurvi Chandela finished second to qualify for the finals. Srihari Natraj has topped his heat in the Men's 100mt backstroke to qualify. FOLLOW LIVE: Asian Games 2018 LIVE: Updates and News
