Young wrestler Vikram Parkhi succumbs to heart attack during a work out
The 30-year-old wrestler from Pune was pronounced dead at a hospital on Wednesday.
A popular wrestler from Pune has passed away due to a heart attack when exercising in a gym.
Vikram Parkhi, a 30-year-old resident of Maan in Mulshi taluka, on the outskirts of Pune, had been working out at a gym in in Maan on Wednesday (December 4) and began feeling unwell in the midst of his workout.
Parkhi was immediately taken to a hospital in Pimpri Chinchwad, but passed away before receiving medical attention.
Vikram Parkhi was a dedicated wrestler who brought pride to his taluka by winning the Kumar Maharashtra Kesri title.
Also, he had participated in various national and international competitions, winning maces at various events.

His sudden death has saddened the people of Maan, and many wrestlers have expressed their shock.
Parkhi was the son of former army officer Shivajirao Parkhi and the brother of Babasaheb Parkhi, a young youth leader.
Incidentally, this is the second death of a wrestler in Pune in the recent past.
In March 2023 last year, wrestler Swapnil Padale - a well known wrestler and winner of the 'Maharashtra Champion' title - had suffered a heart attack after a workout at Mamasaheb Mohal Kusti Sankul in Marunji.
He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
Pune, along with Kolhapur, has been emerging as a new center for wrestling in Maharashtra.
The recent loss of two young wrestlers have deeply affected the local wrestling community.
