The Women's T20 Challenge returns to our screen after a year long hiatus today. In the first match of the season, the defending champions Trailblazers will take on the Supernovas in a repeat of the last edition's final.
Will Smriti Mandhana's Trialblazers once again prove too hot to handle for Harmanpreet Kaur's Supernovas? Or will the two-time champions have the revenge?

Supernovas have the revenge for the final loss against Trailblazers in the last edition. They have absolutely decimated the defending champions by 49 runs and might already have one foot in the final of Women's T20 Challenge 2022. This is the biggest victory margin by runs in the history of the three-team competition.
The Trailblazers started off well, but they kept losing wickets to Pooja Vastrakar. The Supernovas were brilliant in the field and they eventually reaped rewards for the same.

Rodrigues decides to take on Meghana Singh. A poor wide and short delivery from Singh, Rodrigues connects it well but it goes to the fielder. Harleen Deol in the deep dives forward and takes it cleanly.
That's the third such catch we have seen in the past 30 minutes. The fielding has been absolutely superlative from the Supernovas.

Jemimah Rodrigues is waging a lone war for the Trailblazers. She defends three balls, gets a boundary of the fourth, a leg bye for four of the fifth and is happy to give the strike to Poonam Yadav for the next over.

A full toss from Pooja Vastrakar and Salma Khatun hits it to Sophie Ecclestone at covers. A dolly for the English woman there. Khatun tried to smash it, but the bat turned in her hands to walk back for a seven-ball duck.
From 62/1 to 73/7, this has been some collapse for the Trialblazers. Smriti Mandhana has a glum face in the dugout.

This just keeps getting worse for the defending champions. Arundati Reddy has no clue what happened there. She brings out a backfoot defence, but the ball somehow rolls to the wicketkeeper after taking the edge. Reddy has no idea where the ball went and is out of the crease looking for a run. Taniya Bhatia collects it and disrupts the stumps. STUMPED!

The Trailblazers keep digging themselves into more and more trouble. Richa Ghosh tries to cut a not-so-short delivery from Sophie Ecclestone and ends up handing a dolly to Deandra Dottin at point. She is not going to miss those.
