Smriti Mandhana (28) and Shafali Verma (21) got India off to a brisk start in the first four overs before Australia tightened the noose in the middle overs. Richa Ghosh played an exciting cameo of 36 to take the scoring rate back up again between overs 14 to 17. In the last three overs, Deepti Sharma (36* off 15 balls) took centre stage and sent the Mumbai crowd wild.

Australia has defeated India comprehensively. The second wicket partnership of 100* between Tahlia McGrath and Beth Mooney was something India had no answer to. India will have to go back and try to understand why they couldn't defend a decent enough score.
