PVL champion Calicut Heroes win maiden CAVA Men's Club C'ship

Calicut Heroes defeated hosts Help Nepal Sports Club 3-1 in the dramatic final to clinch their maiden CAVA Men's Club C'ship title.

Prime Volleyball League season three winner Calicut Heroes won its maiden CAVA Men’s Volleyball Club Championship 2024, held in Kathmandu, Nepal.

They defeated the host Help Nepal Sports Club 3-1 in a dramatic final on Saturday.

The fantastic 25-21, 24-26, 25-14, 25-17 victory not only gave Calicut Heroes a sweet revenge against the team they had lost 2-3 in their opening match on December 7 but also handed them the first-ever title of the inaugural eight-day championship.

The last day of the 2024 CAVA Men’s Club Championship delivered an electrifying atmosphere in Kathmandu, as a large number of home fans flocked into the competition venue to witness two intense matches.

After defeating Iran Club in the semi-finals, the Indian club won the historic title with a solid 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-14, 25-17) victory against the host side.

Middle blocker Shikhar Singh played a big part in the Calicut Heroes’ victory, producing 17 points from 11 attacks, 4 blocks, and 2 aces, while outside hitter Mubashar Raza and fellow outside hitter Mazhar Ali, both talented imports from Pakistan, delivered strong performances, scoring 16 points each on the hosts’ loss.

Despite HNC’s valiant efforts, the teamwork and determination of Calicut Heroes ultimately secured them the championship title, lifting the trophy amid loud cheers from their supporters.
