Sakina Khatun switched from Swimming to Powerlifting
Did you know, Sakina Khatun was first a para-swimmer and then later switched to para-powerlifting? Yes, in fact, she was even a part of the swimming national camp in 2010. Read the full story here.
Sakina Khatun will start with an attempt of 90kg
Sakina Khatun's first attempt is expected to be 90kg. This is the sixth-highest in the start list of nine superwomen from across the globe. The highest first attempt lift would be 122kg by Egypt's Rehab Ahmed.

India's first shot at the podium
Sakina Khatun will be the first Indian at the Tokyo Paralympics to be in contention for a medal. The 32-year-old will compete in Women's -50kg Powerlifting and will hope to return with a medal. The event is expected to commence in about 15 minutes from now.

ICYMI, India's only woman compound archer at the Tokyo Paralympics, Jyoti Baliyan finished 15th in the individual ranking round with a score of 671 in 72 arrows.
The men's compound individual ranking round is scheduled for 10:30 am IST, and whoever amongst Rakesh Kumar and Shyam Sundar Swami finishes higher will pair up with Jyoti for the mixed team event.
