Anahat Singh decimates opposition in PSA Challenger tour event
Facing Sri Lankan Chanithma Sinaly in the final, the Indian teenager delivered a commanding performance, winning the final in straight sets.
Indian teenage squash sensation Anahat Singh won the Reliance PSA Challenger 3 Tournament in Sri Lanka, defeating third seed Chanithma Sinaly in the final, at Ratmalana, on Sunday.
The top seed 16-year-old Indian made light work of her opponent, completely dominating the final, winning in straight games 11-0, 11-1, 11-4.
From the very first exchanges, Anahat was on top of her game and gave the local girl no chance of reprieve.
She took the first two games conceding just one point and then applied the finishing touches by winning the third game.
She will receive a cash prize of $3000 for winning the tournament.
Anahat, along with other top seeded players, will now feature in the HCL Squash Tour, set to take place in Kolkata from 27th-31st August 2024.
The teenager has made big strides in the world of squash and is dubbed as the next superstar of Indian squash.
Last year, at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, Anahat became the youngest Indian medalist at the Asian Games, winning two bronzes in the women's team and mixed doubles event.
She was also the youngest Indian member of the Indian contingent at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held at Birmingham, UK.
With Squash set to be part of the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Anahat is definitely a bright prospect for India four years down the line.
