Asia-Pacific Deaf Games: Vinith, Sameeha clinch gold medals in track

The Indian contingent entered the top five of the medal tally of the Deaf Games with gold medals in athletics and judo.

Indian athletes continued their solid display at the Asia-Pacific Deaf Games and entered the top five of the medal tally after winning multiple gold medals in athletics and judo In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Fabulous outing for India in Athletics

Indian athletes added three more gold medals in the track discipline as Vinith Mani (400m men), Sameeha Barvin Mujib (100m hurdles women), and the women's 4*400 team clinched the gold medal.

Vinith clocked a timing of 49.68 seconds to win his second gold medal of the event after the mixed relay while Sameeha clocked 17.40 seconds to confirm their spot on the top of the podium.

Alongside this, Manikandan Ramaraj (Long Jump Men) and Versha Gulia (Women's Shot Put) won the bronze medals with a distance of 7.07m and 10.42m respectively.

Indian Judokas won five medals.

India clinched two gold and three bronze medals from the Judo event at the Asia-Pacific Deaf Games. Milanmeet Kaur (48 Kg) and Sakshi Bansode (57 Kg) won the two gold medals for India.

Milanmeet defeated the Kazakhstan athlete Zhetpisbayeva Aiym in the final whereas Sakshi got better than the Kyrgyzstan player, Daniiarova Aiturgan in her final bout.

Meanwhile, Nirchira (Women's 52 Kg), Rakesh Singh (66 Kg), and Sambid Das (73 Kg Men) clinched the bronze medals, taking India's medal tally to five in judo.

Moreover, Indian paddlers also added two more medals to their name as India registered a double podium in the women's doubles competition.

The two Indian pairings of Shiney Gomes / Subhechchha Roy and Aishwin Kaur / Cindrella Mullick won the bronze medals, adding another medal to their kitty after the women's team silver medal.
