The country finished fourth in the overall medal table with 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze. This marked an improvement of three medals over its haul at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, achieved despite fielding a contingent nearly half the previous size.
A strong surge in the Para athletics programme proved decisive. Indian athletes claimed 65 medals in the discipline, including 22 gold, which pushed the nation from sixth to fourth place in the medal standings over the final two days.
The contingent delivered several outstanding performances, with four athletes securing three medals each. Among them was reigning world champion Sheetal Devi.
