East Bengal defeated Bengaluru FC 1-0 in the Indian Super League on Friday at the Sree Kanteerava stadium. Brazilian forward Cleiton Silva scored the only goal in the match against his former employers to gift three points to the Red and Gold Brigade.

The first half saw a lot of chances created by both sides but to no avail. However, Roy Krishna perhaps got some of the best chances of the match but failed to capitalise on it. In the 62nd minute, the Fijian was put through on goal but his shot was way off the target and didn't test Kamaljit Singh at the goal.

Seven minutes later at the 69th minute, winger Naorem Mahesh Singh put some pressure on Suresh and took the ball from the midfielder. From there, it was a simple square pass to Cleiton and an even simpler finish for the forward to clinch the game.

It was a nervy last few minutes as Bengaluru piled on pressure onto the East Bengal's box, but the backline stood their ground and saw out the game.

With the second win in this season, East Bengal go up to 8th place ahead of Bengaluru FC with six points while the Blues go to 9th with four points.
