'Great effort by our boys': Igor Stimac hails Blue Tigers

India went down 0-2 in its AFC Asian Cup opening Group B match against Australia on Saturday at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, but the Blue Tigers' resilient show impressed head coach Igor Stimac. "Great effort by our boys and valuable experience earned. We held them to a point of frustration throughout the first half and it was sad to concede such a goal after defending so many set pieces brilliantly," Stimac wrote on X on Sunday.

Shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu disqualified from Olympic qualifiers in Kuwait

Indian shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu suffered a major setback in his bid to qualify for the Paris Olympics, as his gun stock failed the equipment control test ahead of the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Kuwait.

Due to the failed test, he has been disqualified from the Olympic qualifiers. The trap shooter alleged that he became a victim of politics played by the tournament director. Manavjit, a four-time Olympian, said the organisers were 'scared' of India winning an Olympic quota.

What to expect today?

Satwik and Chirag are all set to play their first final at the season-opening Malaysia Open, a Super 1000 event, on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur. They will take on world no. 1 Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China. 

In the FIH Olympic Qualifiers, the Indian women's team takes on New Zealand in Ranchi after a shock defeat to the USA. 

In the Kalinga Super Cup, Mohun Bagan SG faces Hyderabad FC while East Bengal will take on Sreenidi Deccan.
