Semi-automated offside technology to debut at AFC Asian Cup 2023
The upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ will witness the introduction of the Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT), revolutionizing decision-making for match officials across all 51 matches of the tournament.
India is in Group B of AFC Asian Cup 2023 along with Australia, Uzbekistan and Syria.
Scheduled to take place from January 12 to February 10, 2024, in Qatar, the deployment of SAOT complements the full debut of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, which demonstrated success during its introduction at the Quarter-final stage in the 2019 edition held in the United Arab Emirates.

Controversy erupts over alleged alteration of AIFF Executive Committee meeting minutes
The All India Football Federation (AIFF), under the leadership of Kalyan Chaubey, finds itself embroiled in controversy following reported alterations to the draft minutes of an executive committee meeting held on November 9. The focus of the meeting was to ratify the termination of the General Secretary, Shaji Prabhakaran, who was officially dismissed on November 7 for what was cited as a "breach of trust."
The controversy deepened as it was revealed that the draft minutes circulated on December 14 underwent modifications just two days later. This revision coincided with a Delhi High Court interim stay on Prabhakaran's removal, as ordered by Justice Subramonium Prasad on December 8.
