24' - England down to 10 players

An unnecessary hard challenge from England and they are shown a yellow. The Olympic bronze medallists are down to 10 players. Can India take advantage?

23' - GOOD REVIEW FROM INDIA

A nasty tackle from India inside the circle and England have a PC. India reviews immediately and they are proven right. England did not stop the ball before taking the free-hit which resulted in the PC and hence they are deprived of it.

20' - SAVITA SAVES!

England pass it among themselves and finally press forward right from the center. Savita Punia seemed to have been surrounded by countless English players, but the Indian goalkeeper and captain kicks it away with ease. Danger averted!

17' - GURJIT MISSES!

England once again gift away a PC with a foot inside the circle and India misses again. Gurjit lows go with the dragflick and think she was looking for a deflection from someone. She does not get anything and the dragflick goes well wide of the post.

Another opportunity missed by India.

END OF FIRST QUARTER!

India did match England on the field for the first 15 minutes, but they have failed to convert 3 PCs and that has surely hampered their causes. England too came close to the goals multiple times and they have managed to convert one.

Savita Punia and co might be trailing, but they are well and truly in this one.

A beautiful play created from the left flank this time and the Indian defence is bamboozled. Thankfully for the women in blue, the final deflection from England goes a bit wide.

10' - INDIA MISSES 2 PCs!

What's happening, India?

England err once again in the penalty area after scoring the goal. The first drag flick from Gurjit Kaur hits the post before finding the feet of an English defender. The second, on the other hand, is blocked cleanly by the goalkeeper.

9' - ENGLAND SCORESSS!

England edges ahead with a beautiful move from the right flank. A pin-point cross from the right side and an even better deflection into the goal to take the lead.

4' - Good defence again from England

England edge forward to penetrate and take a shot, which is well saved by Savita Punia. India come on a counter and that's handled cleanly once again by the English defence.

Both teams have had a shy at the goal, but none converted so far.

1' - GOOD DEFENCE!

India trap and shoot well, but the English defence is up to the task. The rusher intercepts it cleanly with the stick and a chance goes begging for India. That was a very good defence from England.
