26' - Brilliant defence from Warriors

The Delhi SG Pipers earn a penalty corner and the Odisha defence including goalie Jocelyn are on top of their game. Brilliant goalkeeping and defending to come out unhurt from that.

25' - Sunelita Toppo goes wide

A good move from the right by the Delhi SG Pipers and it is complete chaos inside the circle. The ball finds 17-year-old Sunelita Toppo, who has an empty near post, but fires it wide. 

Deep Grace Ekka did well there to pressure Toppo and hurrying her into a shot.

24' - PC overturned for Warriors

A good aerial ball into the circle by the Warriors and goalkeeper Elodie Picard is right behind the forward to take it in Pipers' control. The umpire hands a PC to the Warriors and the Pipers challenge.

The replays show that the first touch on that aerial ball was by the Pipers defender and hence the PC is overturned. Good review by the Pipers that.

21' - Pipers miss two PCs

Just as I typed the last update, Lily Owsley with a brilliant run right down the centre and the umpire feels she has earned a penalty corner for the Delhi SG Pipers. The Warriors disagree and ask for a review.

The TV umpire says that there's a stick tackle inside the circle from the Warriors. The decision stays and Warriors lose their review.

The Warriors defence takes their own sweet time to get ready. The first drag flick from the Pipers takes a deflection and rises dangerously high, before the second drag flick is deflected away cleanly by the defence.

20' - Pipers lacking the venom

The Delhi SG Pipers have had a few good runs, but they lack the venom inside the circle to trouble the Warriors. Captain Navneet Kaur with a good run into the circle and she looks to earn a PC, but the Warriors defence is watertight.

16' - WARRIORS SCOREE!

They looked the more threatening side in the first quarter and they have scored less than a minute into the second. They go on the attack straightaway and earn a penalty corner – the first of the tournament.

An inch perfect injection and Jibbi Yansen in the first battery doesn't make any mistake. A powerful drag flick to slot the ball in. WARRIORS HAVE THE LEAD!

END OF FIRST QUARTER

A good start to the Women's Hockey India League. Unlike the men's competition, where teams were holding back trying to understand each other in early stages, both the Pipers and the Warriors have been eager to push forward.

Both teams have had their chances – the Warriors more so – but no goals have been converted.

13' - Odisha looking in control

Not a lot to separate the two sides, but Odisha Warriors look a more comfortable in the field. They have been looking a much more well oiled unit when compared to the Delhi SG Pipers.

8' - SAVE, BARTRAM!

A good move from the Delhi SG Pipers via the left. They have a good deflection on to the goal after a pass in but Jocelyn Bartram denies with a good save.

4' - SAVE, ELODIE PICARD!

A defensive lapse from the Delhi SG Pipers and they are in real trouble. Kanika Siwach only has the goalkeeper to beat, but Elodie Picard does well to charge, throw the forward off and block the ball from going in.
