Women's HIL: Odisha Warriors thumps Delhi SG Pipers – Highlights

That's all we have from the inaugural match of the Women's Hockey India League. It was all about Yibbi Jansen and the Odisha Warriors in Ranchi tonight.

Baljeet Kaur also wrote her name in trivia quizzes, becoming the first ever Indian scorer in the women's HIL. 

On the other hand, a night to forget for the Delhi SG Pipers and much like what captain Navneet Kaur said they would want to put this behind and come back stronger in the next match.

Yibbi Jansen is the player of the match for her brace.

"It was great atmosphere today. Some good goals, some good defending. I love to train a lot on the penalty corners and we do it as a team," says Jansen.

There's the inevitable. The Odisha Warriors have absolutely hammered the Delhi SG Pipers in the first-ever Women's Hockey India League match.

The Navneet Kaur-led Pipers never looked threatening enough for the Warriors, who were dubbed as one of the favourites ahead of the start of the tournament. And didn't they live up to the billing tonight in Ranchi?

The Delhi SG Pipers are still lacking inside the circle. They have a predominantly young Indian forward line and that's not clicking for them tonight.

Navneet Kaur again with a good pass even with pressure on her from the defenders, but no one is able to get a deflection on that ball for the Pipers.

A good move started by Manisha Chauhan and the ball reaches to Navneet Kaur, who squares the ball in front of the goal. There's no one there to poach the goal for the Pipers. That's possibly the best chance they have had the entire match.
