The start of a new era

The Indian coach Sjoerd Marijne, right after the Tokyo Olympics, announced his decision to step down from his position as the head coach. The position vacated by the Dutchman is now taken by his then-deputy and countrywoman Janneke Schopman.

The 44-year-old Schopman has been around for long with the Indian women's team, and hopefully it will be a smooth transition for the country.

Gooood Morninggg!

Following their fairytale run at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Indian women's hockey team is finally back in action, starting today. Over the course of the next one week, the women in blue led by FIH goalkeeper of the year Savita Punia will take on a total of 5 teams from Asia for the ultimate crown.

Out of the six teams, India is the highest-ranked - 9th in the world, followed by number 10 China and South Korea at number 11. The Indian women will surely start as hot contenders to lift the title, but can they translate this promise into on-field performance?
