An error from Siwach inside the circle and Soorma have earned a PC. Jeremy Hayward steps up to take the drag flick and both his attempts are deflected away.

19' - A very interesting conversation in the middle
An aerial ball from Soorma and Jeremy Hayward is running to receive it. The umpire however whistles before Hayward intercepts it.
Hayward is not impressed. "Why are you whistling?," he shouts out loud at least twice.
The umpire is forced to respond. "I thought it was danger," he says, apologising.

Team Gonasika get a PC now in the dying moments of the first quarter and the Soorma goalie does well to save the drag flick from going in.
That bit of action also draws curtains on a rather sedate first quarter.

A penalty corner for Soorma Hockey Club and the postman - Yashdeep Siwach - does well to deflect it away.

A good run by Mandeep on the right and he squares the ball in. The forward can't take this shot on the first attempt, but he does a 360-degree turn and shoots. The shot is right on target, but Vanasch saves for Soorma.

A lot of turnovers in the midfield from both sides and there hardly have been any threatening runs.

6' - Amir Ali takes a blow
Soorma in the circle with Maninder Singh, whose pass hits Gonasika's Amir Ali flush on the right wrist. He is in pain and has to go out. Hopefully, nothing too serious.

A sedate start to the contest with neither teams really eager to press. The Soorma seem to have a bit more of the possession though.
