HIL: UP Rudras beats Team Gonasika – Highlights

That's all we have from the Hockey India League clash between Team Gonasika and UP Rudras in Ranchi.

The Rudras register their fourth straight win, thanks to skipper Hardik Singh's penalty stroke late in the first quarter. Gonasika did give them a run for their money, but the Rudras protected the lead with their life.

Though they conceded far too many penalty corners, the Rudras were immaculate when it came to PC defence. James Mazarello also had a good day in front of the goal with some splendid saves.

"It was an important match to win," says Chirmako.

There is the inevitable. The UP Rudras defence was rock solid when it came to penalty corners and they walk away with an important three points to break into the top four.

Hardik Singh scored for the Rudras from a penalty stroke and then they just held on to the lead for the entire match. This loss could well mean the end of semi-finals hopes for Gonasika.

Team Gonasika with yet another penalty corner and Victor Charlet's drag flick is deflected away cleanly by Balk.

Team Gonasika are working hard but they don't have anything to show for it unfortunately. Doesn't help when you miss multiple opportunities in the circle either.

The Rudras have not been at their best too but they have done enough to hold on to their advantage.

A good aerial ball into the circle from Gonasika and Araijeet Singh Hundal earns them a PC after receiving it. The penalty corner routine is, however, extremely poor.

A bit of bad bounce on that injection, it seems and Manpreet Singh fails to trap the ball. It just rolls away. That's another chance missed for Gonasika.
