17' - A calm start to the second quarter

A sedate start to the second quarter with a couple of midfield turnovers. India are playing a high press, while the English are spread out.

END OF FIRST QUARTER!

End of the first 15 minutes of play. Some end-to-end hockey during that quarter. 

India started strongly, dominating the early exchanges. They earned three PCs as well, but have nothing to show for it. Ishika, in particular, has been electric, causing troubles to the English defence.

England, however, came back strongly towards the latter stages and seem to have finally settled into rhythm.

13' - England down to ten players

England have picked up a green card, thanks to a foul from Sophie Hamilton. 

They are down to ten players for the next two minutes.

11' - England hit wide

All of a sudden, England have come alive in the contest. They draw a foul on the left flank just ouside the shooting circle.

The free hit is taken quickly and the ball finds Lily Owsely, who penetrates right down the centre of the circle.

Owsely takes a shot and Savita Punia is called to action, but thankfully it is just wide.

10' - Good PC defence from India!

England earn a penalty corner against the run of play, but the Indian penalty corner defence is water tight.

The first rusher cleanly blocks it with her stick, before the rebound is intercepted nicely by Jyoti to clear away the danger.

8' - India miss another PC!

Yet another good run into the circle from Ishika and she earns a penalty corner this time.

But as was the case twice before, India have missed the opportunity again.

Deepika with the dragflick this time and she has put it wide. 

All these chances might come back to haunt Tete and co.

It has started raining and India have earned yet another penalty corner.

Navneet Kaur with the drag flick yet again and she has put it way wide.

If only the injector Salima Tete was in position at the near post, that could have been deflected in. It wasn't to be.

4' - Goal disallowed for INDIA!

Soon after that Ishika move, Sunelita Toppo earns a smart penalty corner as the England defence fail to clear the rebound off Pritchard's save cleanly.

Navneet Kaur steps up to take the drag flick and she has slotted the ball in. The Indians are about to go on a celebratory run, but it is cut short.

The replays shows, that Navneet's drag flick was deflected into the net by Ishika's thigh. The on field umpire rightly spotted it.

4' - Excellent from India!

Ishika with a wonderful run into the circle from the left and she has completely opened up the English defence.

She takes a shot and it is on target as well, but Miriam Pritchard had it covered. Good save.
