33' - Good start!

Good start to the first half as both the teams are trying to press forward. There seem to be a fresh wave of aggression on the field.

HALF TIME!

There goes the hooter and that's the end of the first half. Both teams have done well to hold on to the ball and create chances. The Japanese, however, have seemed to be more composed and in control of the proceedings.

They have done well to equalise after India edged ahead and the men in blue need to ensure that they get their act together.

27' - GREEN CARD, MANINDER!

Schoolboy error from Maninder Singh. This is awful. India on the attack and the referee blows his whistle for a foul as the ball touches SV Sunil's feet. Maninder, however, does not pay heed and shoots.

He does slot it in but it doesn't count. To make matters worse it's a green card for him. India down to 2 men.

20' - SURAJ TO THE RESCUE, AGAIN!

Yet another PC for India, Suraj steps up once again. This time the rebound hits the crossbar and trickles away. Lucky escape for the men in blue, but they are feeling the heat.

Another PC for India and Suraj Karkera blocks again. This time the Indian defence does well to control the rebound. The Indians soon go on a dangerous counter, but a weak pass from SV Sunil brings curtains on it.

18' - JAPAN EQUALISE!

A very well earned PC for Japan and they convert. Suraj Karkera did well to block the drag flick, but the Kuwaniva is quick to pounce on the rebound and net it in.

End of the first quarter!

That's the end of the first quarter. The Japanese had more circle penetrations, but it is India who have the lead, thanks to that brilliance from Manjeet.

A lot to play for before we move into the bigger break.
